What can be done about receding gums?
Recession is treated with grafting: healthy tissue is placed where the gum has withdrawn, covering the exposed root. It protects the root from decay and sensitivity, and restores the natural proportion between gum and tooth.
Will the result look natural?
That is the entire aim — these procedures are judged by whether anyone can tell they were done. We work conservatively, matching the contour and colour of the tissue already there so the result simply looks like your own smile.
How long does recovery take?
Most patients return to their usual routine the next day, with some tenderness for a few days. The tissue settles over two to three weeks and continues to mature quietly for a few months afterwards.
